How to Fold an Origami Rose

Rose symbolizes love and strong emotions. Use a piece of paper to make a beautiful origami rose and give it to your mother or someone you love, this would be a great idea!

Although most of the origami rose requires lots of folding and assemble, this one is super easy. It completes with a more abstract rose than traditional rose.

Material

Prepare a 15×15 cm origami square paper, with one red and one white side, to create a 7.6×7.6 cm rose.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Start with the white side of the paper facing up and fold it in half, crease it well and unfold it.

Step 2

Fold it in half again from another side, crease it well then unfold it.

Step 3

Flip it over.

Step 4

Unfold it in half diagonally, crease well then unfold.

Step 5

Then fold it in half again from another side, and unfold it.

Step 6

Now flip the paper over again to make the white side face up.

Step 7

Pinch up the left and right creases, and bring the left, right and top points down to meet the bottom point, creating a square.

Step 8

Now fold the bottom left and right edges of the top flap to the center crease, crease it well then unfold.

Step 9

Now we will make a petal fold, firstly you can fold the top point down, crease well then unfold, to assist in the completion of the petal fold.

Open the pocket based on the crease created by the previous step. Then lift up the top layer, and flatten the pocket.

Fold the top corner down diagonally.

Step 11

Flip it over.

Step 12

Fold the bottom left and right edge to the middle crease, crease well then unfold.

Step 13

Repeat step 9, and make a petal fold for this side.

Step 14

Fold the top corner down diagonally.

Step 15

Take the top flap, and fold it to the right side to make the crease shown by the green line meet the blue line crease, finally crease well then unfold.

Step 16

Repeat this for the left side.

Step 17

Open the paper from the left and right sides slightly, and gently lift the top flap along the creases made in previous steps.

Step 18

Repeat step 15 to 17, and lift the remaining three sides, then you will get a paper as shown.

Step 19

Press down the four points as shown, and the four flaps in the middle will naturally rotate into a slight spiral shape.

If not, you can adjust it manually.

Step 20

Flip it over.

Rotate it 45 degrees clockwise.

Step 22

Fold the four corners to the central point.

Flip it over again.

Step 24

Pinch the middle corner with your fingers and gently rotate it counterclockwise.

Step 25

Fold each corner of the petals backward a little to make the rose look rounder.
