Hello! I’m Bella, an origami enthusiast and kindergarten teacher. At OrigamiOK, I craft the step-by-step instructions while Tomas captures every fold in perfect detail. Nothing brings me more joy than knowing our tutorials help you create beautiful origami pieces with your own hands!
Our Story
OrigamiOK was born in 2024 when Tomas Jing recognized a fundamental problem with traditional origami instructions. Classic printed tutorials, constrained by page limits, couldn’t show enough visual steps. Video tutorials varied wildly in quality and consumed too much learning time.
Tomas pioneered a revolutionary approach: comprehensive photo tutorials published online, where space limitations don’t exist. We can show every single fold, every angle, every crucial detail.
This groundbreaking method comes at a tremendous cost. A single step might require multiple photos, careful assembly, and precise annotation with guiding symbols. Even a simple origami model demands hundreds of photographs to select from.
Now it’s clear why other websites don’t use this approach. It’s not that they don’t want to; the workload is simply overwhelming. But Tomas persevered through an intense year of work, building OrigamiOK’s rich library of tutorials and earning praise from users worldwide.
We also believe that beautiful paper transforms even simple models into art. Our team has tested over 100 different paper types to find the perfect combinations. As you can see throughout OrigamiOK, every origami model we present is a work of art.
Why We Stay Small
Creating origami tutorials isn’t about simple replication. The same model requires different approaches depending on how you teach it. From the moment we start shooting, we’re thinking about camera angles, intermediate steps, and how to make each fold crystal clear to learners.
After photographing, selecting the right images from hundreds of shots, processing them, and adding instructional symbols requires the same creative vision that guided the photography. Video tutorials demand even more: knowing exactly when to highlight difficulties and key transformations.
Tomas has tried delegating parts of this process, but the quality never meets our standards. These three roles of photographer, editor, and instructor must unite in one person to create perfect tutorials.
So our team remains just Tomas Jing and Bella. Fortunately, Tomas is incredibly dedicated, and we continue producing new tutorials at an impressive pace.
