Origami Squash Fold
Squash Fold: Is a common technique used in origami. It’s basically a way to create two new folds (typically mountain folds) by collapsing a pre-existing fold. It can be made on any of the popular folds. Following we take three examples.
First example:
Step1
Start with square paper positioned like a diamond. Then, fold it along in half diagonally.
Step 2
Fold the triangle created in step 1 to in half diagonally, then open it slightly.
Step 3
Lift the flap you want to squash, and then open the layers.
Step 4
Then push the top center to meet the bottom one. The flat the square shape.

Third Example:
How to make a squash fold
- Start with a Square base. Squash folds can be performed on various shapes.
- There are four layers on this base. Lift the top 2 layers, make a valley fold, and unfold the flap you minted to squash. This creates a faint crease to guide the fold later.
How to make a squash fold
Open layers of paper inside the flap. Change the valley fold you made earlier into a mountain fold by gently pushing it in the opposite direction.
