Material for Origami Tulip
Get four pieces of 15ร15 cm origami square paper to create a 9.37ร5.5 cm origami tulip with a pot.
Step by Step Instructions
The Corolla Part of The Tulip
Step 1
Take a 15ร15 cm origami square paper, and cut it as the pictures show.
Step 2
Take out the paper you just cut that we marked number three, which is an 8ร8 cm origami square paper, and place it with the yellow side face up. Fold it in half horizontally, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 3
Fold it in half vertically, and unfold it.
Step 4
Flip the paper over from left to right.
Step 5
Fold it in half diagonally, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 6
Fold it in half diagonally from the other side and unfold it.
Step 7
Bring up the midpoint of the left and right edges, and push them down to meet the midpoint of the bottom edge, then flatten the fold to create a triangle.
Step 8
Fold up the left and right points of the top layer to meet the top point, then flip the paper over from left to right, and fold up the left and right points to meet the top point.
Step 9
Rotate the paper 90 degrees from front to back, then bring the upper two layers together on the top and bring the lower two layers together on the bottom. Next, rotate the paper 90 degrees counterclockwise, then another 90 degrees from back to front.
Step 10
Fold the top left and right edges to align with the middle vertical crease, then flip the paper over from left to right, and repeat what you just did.
Step 11
Fold up the bottom triangle, then unfold it.
Step 12
Rotate the paper 90 degrees from back to front, then press down the center point to bulge the model, and finally, rotate it 90 degrees from front to back.
Step 13
Tuck the bottom left corner of the right layer into the pocket of the left layer, and flip the paper over from left to right, similarly, tuck the bottom left corner of the right layer into the pocket of the left layer.
Step 14
Rotate it 90 degrees from front to back, then bend the four layers down a little to get the petals. Finally, rotate it 90 degrees from back to front, this is the corolla part of the tulip.
The Pot Part
Step 1
Place the paper with the desired display color side down to begin folding, fold it in half horizontally, crease it well, and unfold it.
Step 2
Fold it in half vertically, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 3
Fold the four points to meet the center intersection point.
Step 4
Bend the picture in the same way as the picture shows, like an โSโ, then flatten this edge, creating two creases to divide this edge into three equal parts.
Step 5
Fold the bottom right edge toward the top left along the dotted line (formed by extending vertically from the point you just made to the bottom left edge). Crease it well then unfold [pictures 1 and 2].
Repeat this for the top left edge [pictures 3 and 4].
Step 6
Fold the bottom left edge toward the top right along the dotted line that connects two red spots, (the red points are formed by the intersection of the two creases you just made and the slits). Crease it well then unfold [pictures 1 and 2].
Repeat this for the top right edge [pictures 3 and 4].
Step 7
Rotate it for 45 degrees counterclockwise, then unfold the left and right triangles.
Step 8
Lift the top and bottom edges along the creases shown by the dotted lines, making them stand.
Step 9
Bring up the right part and make it stand along the crease shown by the dotted line, then push the top and bottom sides of the right part. Next, make a valley fold on each sides as the second and third pictures show,
Step 10
Fold down the crease indicated by the red dotted line along the black dotted line, adjust it well, and now you get one of the edges of the box.
Step 11
Similarly, bring up the left part along the black dotted line for 90 degrees, and make two valley folds on each top and bottom side.
Step 12
Fold down the crease indicated by the red dotted line along the black dotted line.
Step 13
Take the rectangle we mark number 1 you cut at the very first beginning, and fold down its top edge horizontally a little.
Step 14
Fold it in half horizontally from top to bottom, and apply glue on it, then wrap it around and glue it to the top of the box. This is the pot that we use to hold the tulip.
The Leaf Part of The Tulip
Step 1
Take two pieces of 15ร15 cm origami square paper, with one green and one any other color side, and cut it as the pictures show.
Step 2
Take one of the 10ร10 cm small squares you just cut out, and flip the paper over from left to right, then rotate it 45 degrees clockwise.
Step 3
Fold it in half horizontally, then unfold it.
Step 4
Fold the top and bottom left edges to align with the horizontal crease.
Step 5
Fold the top and bottom right edges to align with the horizontal crease, then repeat this.
Step 6
Rotate it 90 degrees counterclockwise.
Step 7
Fold the bottom point to meet the top point, then rotate it 180 degrees from left to right.
Step 8
Fold the paper in half vertically from left to right, then slightly pull the two flaps toward the sides, this is one of the leaves.
Step 9
Fold another piece of small square paper you cut in the same manner to create another leaf.
Step 10
Place the two leaves like in the picture, then insert the two flaps of the leaves into the hole at the bottom of the Corolla part, getting a complete tulip. Finally, put the tulip into the spot.
How to assemble the tulip
The origami tulip looks like a real tulip, with a vibrant corolla, graceful leaves, and a lovely pot. It would be an ideal project for home decor and thoughtful gifts. You can check out our origami flower pots, which have three different flower pots for matching.
It will be hard for the pot to hold the tulip directly. So you can add some other origami decorations like the origami lucky stars working as the solid in the pot.
