This cute origami table has an octagonal tabletop and four legs. Its production is quite simple and does not require complicated origami techniques. The table legs are created using the basic folding method: the Petal Fold. Using patterned paper will make your table look like it is covered with a tablecloth.

Material

Get a piece of 15cm x 15cm origami square paper with different colors on each side, to create a 8cm x 8cm origami table. Feel free to experiment with various colors and sizes of paper.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Place the paper with the desired display side facing down to begin folding. Fold and unfold it in half horizontally, then vertically.

Step 2

Fold and unfold it in half diagonally from both directions.

Step 3

Fold both the top and bottom edges to align with the middle horizontal crease.

Step 4

Fold both the left and right edges to align with the vertical crease, leaving two creases, and unfold them.

Step 5

Fold the bottom edge to align with the vertical crease on the left side, crease it well, and unfold it.

Step 6

Bring up the right edge and open the opening along the two slanted creases [picture 1].

Then, press the right edge toward the left side along the crease indicated by the black dotted line [picture 2].

Finally, fold the top and bottom corners to the right side [picture 3].

Step 7

The same to the left side, bring up the left edge and open the opening along the two slanted creases [picture 1].

Then, press the left edge toward the right side along the crease indicated by the black dotted line [picture 2].

Finally, fold the top and bottom corners to the left side [picture 3].

Step 8

Lift the four flaps, open and squash them to form four small squares.

Step 9

Fold both sides of each small square extending from the center to align with their respective diagonal creases.

Step 10

Fold the triangle on the four corners, and unfold them.

Unfold the eight small flaps you made in step 9.

Step 12

Focus on the top left square. Mountain fold the two creases indicated by the red dotted lines, then lift the bottom right point, located at the center of this paper, and finally flatten the fold.

Step 13

Repeat this for the other three squares.

Step 14

Sharpen the four corners by folding their left and right edges to align with their middle vertical crease.

Step 15

Fold the four points along the crease indicated by the dotted line, then unfold them 90 degrees to make them stand upright right. These are the four legs of the table.

Step 16

Flip the model from left to right.

Make two origami chairs and place them on either side of your table, and place two origami cups on top of the table. That would be a fun origami landscape, like a dollhouse scene.
