About the paper: use soft and resilient paper since there are some delicate and detailed steps.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Place the paper with the desired display color side down to begin folding, fold it in half horizontally, leaving a crease then unfold it.
Step 2
Fold the paper in half vertically, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 3
Fold the top, left, and right points to meet the center intersection point.
Step 4
Fold the left and right edges to align with the vertical crease.
Step 5
Fold the top left and right corners diagonally along the black dotted lines, crease them well, and unfold them.
Step 6
Flip the paper over from left to right, then fold down the top edge, then unfold it.
Step 7
Flip the paper over from left to right, then fold the top section of the left edge along the black dotted line to align with the crease, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Similarly, fold the right edge along the black dotted line, and unfold it.
Step 8
Mountain fold the crease indicated by the red dotted line, and fold it down along the horizontal black dotted line, then squash the arched corner to flatten the fold.
Step 9
Similarly, mountain fold the crease on the right side indicated by the red dotted line, and fold it down along the horizontal black dotted line, then squash the arched corner to flatten the fold.
Step 10
Turn over the paper from left to right, then fold the paper in half vertically from right to left.
Step 11
Fold down the edge indicated by the red dotted line along the crease indicated by the black dotted line. Flip the paper over from left to right, and repeat the step you have just taken to this side: fold the red dotted line along the black dotted line.
Step 12
Rotate the paper 90 degrees from right to left, then fold down the top point a little and close the opening. Finally, rotate the paper 90 degrees from right to left.
Step 13
Fold up the bottom part along the black dotted line, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 14
Rotate the paper 90 degrees from right to left, then expand the bottom opening, and fold up the bottom part along the crease you made in the previous step. Finally, close the opening, and rotate the paper 90 degrees from left to right. Now that you have created the squirrel’s tail, you can adjust its position if it’s not suitable.
Step 15
Fold the top left point of the tail’s top layer along the black dotted line, leaving a crease, and unfold it. Then, fold this point backward along this crease.
Step 16
Flip the paper over from left to right.
Step 17
As you did in step 15, fold the top right point of the tail’s top layer along the black dotted line, leaving a crease, and unfold it. Then, fold this point backward along this crease.
Step 18
Rotate the paper 90 degrees from front to back, expand the tail part from the top, then press down the tip of the tail and mountain fold the black dotted line and valley fold the red dotted lines. Finally, rotate the paper 90 degrees from back to front.
Step 19
Shape squirrel as the following pictures show.
Step 20
Turn over the paper from left to right.
Step 21
Shape the squirrel by folding it in these four places, as the pictures show.
