Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Place the paper with the desired display color side down to begin folding, fold it in half diagonally from both sides, and unfold to get two creases.
Step 2
Fold the top and bottom edges to align with the middle horizontal red line that extends horizontally from the center intersection point, crease them well, and unfold them.
Fold the left and right edges to align with the middle vertical red line that extends vertically from the center intersection point, crease them well, and unfold them.
Step 3
Fold the top and bottom edges to align with the creases you made in the previous step on the top and bottom sides. Crease them well, and unfold them.
Fold the left and right edges to align with the creases you made in the previous step on the left and right sides. Crease them well, and unfold them.
Step 4
Fold the bottom edge to align with the crease indicated by the red line, and unfold it.
Repeat this for the top, left, and right edges, fold them the align with the creases indicated by the red lines on their opposite side, crease them well, and unfold them.
Step 5
Rotate it 45 degrees clockwise.
Step 6
Fold the bottom point to meet the intersection point indicated by the red spot, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Repeat this for the left, right, and top points, fold them to meet the red spots on their opposite side, and unfold them.
Step 7
Flip the paper over from left to right.
Step 8
Fold up the bottom point to meet the intersection point indicated by the white spot on the top, then only flatten the left and right sections to get two short creases, as the second picture shows.
Repeat this for the other three points, the way the left point folds is indicated by the purple line, the right by the yellow line, and the top by the white line.
Step 9
Fold the four points a little along the white dotted lines to meet the intersection points formed by the creases.
Step 10
Fold the four edges along the black dotted lines to align with the existing creases, crease them well, and unfold them.
Step 11
Fold the four edges to align with the creases you just made on the four sides separately.
Step 12
Rotate the paper 45 degrees from front to back, then take the crease indicated by the red dotted line and fold it toward the left side along the black dotted line [pictures 1 and 2].
Similarly, fold the crease on the left side indicated by the red dotted line toward the right side along the black dotted line [picture 3].
Finally, unfold them.
Step 13
Repeat this for the other three sides, then flip the paper over from left to right.
Step 14
Press down the left and right parts, then press down the bottom and top parts, the required creases already exist.
[Note that when you press down the top and bottom parts, make sure that the left layer of each part is pressed on top of the right layer.]
Step 15
Fold the bottom right edge of the top left square along the black dotted line, then fold the bottom left edge of the top right square along the black dotted line.
Fold the top right edge of the bottom left square, and the top left edge of the bottom right square along the dotted lines.
Step 16
Press down the left and right vertically standing layers on the top side toward both sides, and also press down the horizontally standing layer on the top as well.
Repeat this for the remaining three sides to create a square in the center.
Step 17
Fold the eight triangles along the black dotted lines, crease them well, and unfold them [pictures 1 and 2].
Next, lift the four edges of the white square, then fold the eight triangles again as you just did [pictures 3 and 4].
Finally, press down the four edges so that these eight triangles are pressed under the four edges [pictures 5 and 6].
Step 18
Fold the four corners of the square diagonally along the dotted lines, crease them well, and unfold them.
Step 19
Bring up the four edges of the top layers of the middle square, and press their midpoint down toward the center.
Step 20
Open the four pockets and then squash them.
Step 21
Bring up the four corners at the center, then we can see that there is a corner underneath between every two corners, for a total of four, and fold all of these four corners backward.
Step 22
Press down the four lifted corners and fold them back as well.
Step 23
Rotate the paper 90 degrees from front to back, then press down the midpoint of this edge along the crease indicated by the black dotted line, forming a depression. Finally, rotate it 90 degrees from back to front.
Step 24
Make a depression in each of the other three directions in the same way as you just did.
