This origami journey will teach you how to make an adorable phoenix. This origami phoenix is featured with a long and elegant tail. We all know that phoenix symbolizes rebirth, so this origami phoenix may bring you hope and luck.
The body part of the origami phenix is similar to the body of the classic origami crane. In the instruction, we use petal fold to form the wings while the inside reverse fold to form the head. It is not an easy version, please follow both the step by step instructions and video if needed.

Material
Get a 20×20 cm origami square paper with different colors on each side, to create a 9.7×13.6 cm phoenix. Use patterned or glitter paper to make your phenix more gorgeous.
Tips about the paper: we will recommend using thiner and hard enough origami papers to make this phoenix.

Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Place the paper with the desired display color side up to begin folding, fold it in half horizontally, and unfold it.
Step 2
Fold the top left and bottom left points toward the center to meet the crease you just made diagonally, and then flip the paper over vertically.
Step 3
Fold the top and bottom left edges to align with the middle crease, and flip the paper over vertically.
Step 4
Unfold the two layers on the left side.
Step 5
Fold the top and bottom edges of the center triangle to align with the middle crease.
Step 6
Fold the top and bottom edges of the upper layer toward the center, making its top and bottom right corners meet the middle horizontal crease, and flip it over vertically.
Step 7
Fold the left point to the right along the dotted line diagonally, and flip the paper over vertically.
Step 8
Fold the paper in half from bottom to top.
Step 9
Fold the top corner on the left side of the upper layer down and to the right along the dotted line, crease it well then unfold it.
Step 10
Push down the upper layer on the left side for 90 degrees, open and squash it, to create a small square.
Step 11
Focus on this square, fold its top and bottom right edge to align with its middle horizontal crease, and unfold them.
Step 12
Still this small square, shape the creases you just made, then lift its right point of the top layer, fold it to the left side, and finally flatten the fold.
Step 13
Take the top and bottom right edges of the part you create in the previous step, and fold them to align with the middle horizontal crease.
Step 14
Flip the paper over vertically, fold the bottom corner up along the dotted line, and unfold it.
Step 15
Lift this layer, open and squash it, creating a square.
Step 16
Then fold the top and bottom right edges of this square to align with its middle horizontal crease, crease them well then unfold.
Step 17
Like before, shape the creases you just made, take the right point of this square, and fold it to the left side along the black dotted line, then flatten the fold.
Step 18
As you did in step 13, take the top and bottom right edges of the part you create in the previous step, and fold them to align with the middle horizontal crease.
Step 19
Rotate it 90 degrees clockwise, then fold the bottom corner of the right part up, crease it very well, and unfold it.
Step 20
View the paper from the right side, open the opening, take the corner you folded in the previous step, and fold it up along the creases you just made, then close this opening and flatten the fold.
Step 21
Fold the tip down slightly downward both to the front and to the back, then unfold it to form two small creases, then open the corner from the bottom, press the tip down, and close it.
Step 22
Fold the bottom part up, and unfold it.
Step 23
View it from the left side and lay it flat, open this opening, shape the middle crease of the tail, fold the tail to the right and finally close the opening.
Step 24
Finally, slightly expand the tail and wings.
