Step by Step Instructions

Origami Flower Bud

Step 1


Take out a piece of 7.5ร—7.5 cm orange paper and fold it in half horizontally, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

If your paper is a different color on each side, start the fold with the orange side facing up.

Step 2

Fold the paper in half vertically, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Step 3

Flip the paper from left to right.

Step 4

Fold the paper in half diagonally from bottom left to top right, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Step 5

Fold the paper in half diagonally from bottom right to top left, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Step 6

Mountain fold the left and right creases, then lift the left, right, and top edges’s midpoints and push them to meet the bottom edge’s midpoint. Flatten the fold to create a small triangle.

Step 7

Fold the top layer’s right edge to align with the vertical crease, then fold the right top flap to the left side along the vertical crease, and finally, fold up the small triangle on the bottom side, crease it well, and unfold it.

Lift the top layer, tuck the bottom triangle between the pocket, and flatten the fold.

Step 9

Fold the right edge to align with the vertical crease, and fold the left top triangle to the right side along the vertical crease. Then, turn the paper over from left to right.

Fold up the bottom triangle, and unfold it. Then, lift the top layer, fold up the triangle again to tuck it between the pocket, and finally, flatten the fold.

Repeat steps 7 to 10.

Fold the bottom left corner of the top flap along the black dotted line, crease it well to leave a crease, and unfold it. Then, fold this corner again and tuck it under the top layer.

Repeat this for the other three flaps.

Blow through the hole in the bottom to make it bulge.

Make another bud in the same manner above.

Take a piece of 3ร—3 cm brown paper, and roll it into a rod from the bottom corner, apply glue to the top corner to secure it well. This will serve as a flower stalk.

Make another flower stalk and assemble the flower stalks and buds.

Origami Orchid

Step 1


Take out a piece of 7.5ร—15 cm orange paper and place it with the orange side facing up to begin folding. Fold it in half vertically, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Fold the left and right edges to align with the vertical crease, leaving two creases, and unfold them.

Turn the paper over from left to right.

Fold the left and right edges to align with the top edge, leaving two creases, and unfold them.

Fold the left and right edges to align with the bottom edge, leaving two creases, and unfold them.

Lift the two vertical creases indicated by the red dotted lines and the left and right edges, then push them toward the center. Flatten the fold to create two triangles.

Fold the two corners on the bottom side along the center horizontal crease, then fold the bottom left and right edges to align with the vertical crease, crease them well, and unfold them.

Step 8

Lift the left triangle’s right edge along the crease indicated by the black dotted line you made in the previous step [picture 1]. Reveal two flaps and press them to the left side [pictures 2 and 3]. Flatten the fold along the black dotted line [pictures 4 and 5].

Repeat this for the right side.

Fold the two flaps toward the right side along the crease you made, and flatten the fold.

Turn the paper over from left to right.

Step 10

Firstly, fold the bottom left and right edges to align with the center vertical cease [picture 1].

Fold the top left and right edges along the black dotted lines, cease them well, leaving two creases, and unfold them [pictures 2 and 3].

Lift the top left and right corners of the top layer along the creases indicated by the black dotted lines, getting two stand-up flaps [picture 4].

Open and squash these flaps along the creases you just made [pictures 5 and 6].

Step 11

Focus on the left quadrilateral layer, and fold it in half from left to right along its center crease to form a triangle layer, then fold the bottom right edge of this triangle to align with its top edge along the short black dotted line[pictures 1 and 2].

Press down the bottom right edge and top edge along the black dotted lines to flatten the fold [pictures 4 to 6].

Step 12

The same to the left quadrilateral layer.

Fold it in half from right to left along its center crease to form a triangle layer, then fold the bottom left edge of this triangle to align with its top edge along the short black dotted line[pictures 1 and 2].

Press down the bottom left edge and top edge along the black dotted lines to flatten the fold [pictures 4 to 6].

Step 13

Focus on the left quadrilateral layer, fold it in half from top right to bottom left along its center crease, getting a triangle [pictures 1 and 2].

Then, fold the right edge of this triangle to align with its left edge along the short dotted line, crease it well, and unfold it [pictures 2 and 3].

Finally, push the left and right edges of this triangle upward along the black dotted lines and flatten the fold [pictures 4 to 6].

The same to the left quadrilateral layer.

Fold it in half from top left to bottom right along its center crease, getting a triangle [pictures 1 and 2].

Then, fold the left edge of this triangle to align with its right edge along the short dotted line, crease it well, and unfold it [pictures 2 and 3].

Finally, push the left and right edges of this triangle upward along the black dotted lines and flatten the fold [pictures 4 to 6].

Flip the paper from left to right, and we can see two layers on the bottom left and right sides. Fold their two edges to align with their center crease separately.

Flip the paper from left to right, lift the top right corner of the left part.

Fold down the top left edge along the black dotted line, then press down the flap you lifted in the previous step [pictures 1 and 2].

The same to the right side.

Fold down the top right edge along the black dotted line, then press down the flap you lifted in the previous step [pictures 3 and 4].

Fold down the top left and right edges along the black dotted lines, and bring up the top triangle’s left and right edges along the center vertical crease shown by the black dotted line.

Mountain fold the bottom section of the center vertical crease indicated by the white dotted line, and make another two mountain creases also indicated by the white dotted lines, as you can see in the second picture, these two creases will be used in the following step 21.

Finally, press down the left and right parts and fold down the top triangle. Flatten the fold and rotate the paper 90 degrees from left to right to lay it flat.

Step 19

Rotate the paper a little counterclockwise, then fold down the front flap along the black dotted line [pictures 1 and 2]. Fold it back to the top side along the dotted line [pictures 3 and 4]

Flip the paper over from left to right and repeat the previous step.

Rotate the paper 90 degrees from front to back, then pull the top and bottom flaps toward the sides [pictures 1 and 2].

Press down the stand-up flap on the left side, open the pocket, and shape it into an eye shape based on the creases made in step 18, as mentioned above [pictures 3 and 4].

Step 22

Rotate the paper 90 degrees clockwise, gently press down the tip of the top and bottom flaps, and this is the final shape of an origami orchid.

Origami Orchid Leaf and Pot

Step 1


Take out a piece of 10ร—10 cm green origami paper, and place it with the green side facing down to begin folding. Fold it in half vertically, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Fold the left and right corners along the white dotted lines to meet the vertical crease, then fold the bottom left and right edges to align with the vertical crease, crease them well, and unfold them.

Fold the bottom left and right edges to align with the creases you made in the previous step, then fold the bottom left and right edges along the creases you made in the previous step, and finally, fold the bottom left and right edges to align with the vertical crease.

Turn the paper over from left to right, and mountain fold the bottom section of the vertical crease indicated by the red dotted line.

Make another three leaves in the same manner.

Step 6

Fold an origami short flower pot with a piece of 20ร—20 cm paper. Once you finish making the pot, you can put some heavy objects inside, such as small stones, so that when you insert the orchid, it will not fall down due to unbalanced weight.

Assemble the pot and leaves.

The Orchid Stem

Step 1

Roll a 15 x 15 cm piece of green paper into a paper rod.

Make another stem.

Join the two paper sticks and bend the right ends. If you have a wire, you can insert it into the stem.

Assemble Origami Orchid

Step 1

Attach the two buds to the stem. When attaching the second bud, you can slightly bend the stem of that bud in advance.
