The one-dollar bill is transformed into a sleek origami airplane that resembles a fighter jet. The fuselage features smooth lines, a sharp tail, and an attractive vertical tail, complete with a cockpit. The bill’s unique length-to-width ratio and durability allow it to effectively replicate a fighter jet’s aggressive aesthetics.

Prepare a one-dollar bill to fold a lovely origami plane. A slightly new bill can make the production process smoother.

Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Place the bill with the number face up to begin folding, fold it in half horizontally, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Step 2
Fold the left edge to align with the top edge, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Step 3
Fold the left edge to align with the bottom edge, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Step 4
Flip the bill from front to back.

Step 5
Fold the left edge to the right side along the dotted line vertically extending from the intersection point formed by two creases. Leave a crease, and unfold it.

Step 6
Turn the bill over from front to back.

Step 7
Take the mountain creases indicated by the red dotted lines, push them, and the left edge to the right side. Flatten the fold to get a triangle on the left side.

Step 8
Flip the bill from front to back, then fold the top and bottom right corners diagonally along the dotted lines.

Step 9
Fold the right corner to the left side along the dotted line, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Step 10
As the first picture shows, fold the two corners along the dotted lines. Then, fold the left corner to the right side to reveal the triangle. Next, turn the bill over from back to front.

Step 11
Fold the right corner to the left side to meet the left edge’s midpoint, then fold it back to the right side to form a zigzag.

Step 12
Fold the top and bottom right edges to align with the center horizontal crease, then flip the paper over from front to back.

Step 13
Fold the bottom corner to meet the top corner, then fold it back to the bottom side to form a zigzag. Flip the bill from left to right, and fold the top corner down to meet the bottom corner.

Step 14
Fold down the top corner of the flap, then fold it back to the top side to form a zigzag. Turn the bill from left to right, and repeat this for the flap on this side.

Step 15
Rotate the plane 90 degrees from front to back and slightly expand it.

Step 16
Fold down the top corner of the left triangle, then fold it back to the top side along the creases you made in the previous step indicated by the dotted lines [pictures 1 and 2].
Repeat this for the bottom corner. Fold it up, and then fold it back to the bottom side along the creases you made in the previous step indicated by the dotted lines [pictures 3 and 4].
Close this opening, and note that tuck the two pleat folds between the valley fold.

Step 17
Rotate the plane 90 degrees from back to front, and fold up the bottom corner of the wing, as well as the bottom corner of the wing on the backside.

Step 18
Fold down the two tips to form the cockpit canopy.
