It is perfect for fall and Halloween. String them up to decorate your windows or paint them red to make a Canadian flag would be meaningful, too.

Material

Get two pieces of 15ร—15 cm origami square paper, to create a 15ร—12.5 cm origami maple leaf. Other sizes of the square paper are also practicable.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Take out one of the papers and fold it in half horizontally and vertically once, leaving two creases, and unfold it. Next, cut the paper along the creases to get four small squares.

Step 2

Cut another piece of paper in the same manner.

Step 3

Take out one of the small squares, place it with the yellow side face down, then fold it in half vertically and unfold it.

Step 4

Fold the top left and right edges to align with the vertical crease.

Step 5

Fold up the bottom triangle and unfold it.

Step 6

Unfold the top two triangles and fold up the bottom triangle again, then fold the top left and right edges to align with the vertical crease again.

Step 7

Fold up the bottom left and right points along the black dotted lines, and unfold them.

Step 8

Unfold the two triangles, then bring up the bottom left point and the top left edge along the existing creases to sharpen the left point. Finally, flatten this flap downward.

Step 9

Similarly, bring up the bottom right point and the top right edge to sharpen the right point and form a flap, then flatten the fold.

Step 10

Fold up the two flaps to finish one of the leaflets of a maple leaf.

Step 11

Fold the other four pieces of paper in the same way.

Step 12

Apply glue to each leaflet and assemble as shown.

Step 13

Take out another piece of small square paper, fold it in half horizontally, and unfold it. Next, fold the bottom edge to align with the horizontal crease, and unfold it, then cut the paper along this crease.

Step 14

We only need the bottom small rectangle that we just cut out.

Fold it in half horizontally, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Step 15

Fold the top and bottom edges to align with the horizontal crease, then shape the middle section a little thinner.

Step 16

Bring up the top and bottom edges along the middle horizontal crease, then fold down the right sections of the top and bottom edges towards the inside.

Step 17

Shape the left section as the first picture shows, then slightly bend this paper, that’s the leaf’s stem.

Step 18

Turn the leaf part you just assembled over, then apply glue to the flat end of the stem, then place it under the lower end of the middle leaflet and glue it in place.

Step 19

Flip it over from left to right, this is the final shape of a maple leaf.
