When you make an origami flower, you will need some flower pots. This post will teach you how to make three different origami flower pots. Two of them have tutorials in this post, and the remaining one is an Origami Vase that we have already published, but you can also use it as a flower pot.
If you are new to origami, start here from our beginner guide to know the basics and how to read the step-by-step instructions.
- Folding time: 15 minutes for each one
- Paper: 15ร15 cm for each one
- Difficulty: Middle
The First One
The previous part of this tutorial is similar to our Origami Hinged Square Box, you can refer to it.
Material
Prepare two pieces of 15ร15 cm origami square paper with different colors on each side to create a 4ร4 cm origami flower pot. You can use a large piece of paper to make a big spot.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Place the paper with the desired display color side down to begin folding, fold it in half horizontally, crease it well, and unfold it.
Step 2
Fold it in half vertically, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 3
Fold the four points to meet the center intersection point.
Step 4
Bend the picture in the same way as the picture shows, like an โSโ, then flatten this edge, creating two creases to divide this edge into three equal parts.
Step 5
Fold the bottom right edge toward the top left along the dotted line (formed by extending vertically from the point you just made to the bottom left edge). Crease it well then unfold [pictures 1 and 2].
Repeat this for the top left edge [pictures 3 and 4].
Step 6
Fold the bottom left edge toward the top right along the dotted line that connects two red spots, (the red points are formed by the intersection of the two creases you just made and the slits). Crease it well then unfold [pictures 1 and 2].
Repeat this for the top right edge [pictures 3 and 4].
Step 7
Rotate it for 45 degrees counterclockwise, then unfold the left and right triangles.
Step 8
Lift the top and bottom edges along the creases shown by the dotted lines, making them stand.
Step 9
Bring up the right part and make it stand along the crease shown by the dotted line, then push the top and bottom sides of the right part. Next, make a valley fold on each sides as the second and third pictures show,
Step 10
Fold down the crease indicated by the red dotted line along the black dotted line, adjust it well, and now you get one of the edges of the box.
Step 11
Similarly, bring up the left part along the black dotted line for 90 degrees, and make two valley folds on each top and bottom side.
Step 12
Fold down the crease indicated by the red dotted line along the black dotted line.
Step 13
Take another 15ร15 cm piece of paper and cut out a 15ร3.5 cm rectangular strip of paper. Place it with the desired display color side down and fold it in half horizontally from top to bottom.
Step 14
Apply glue on one side of the paper strip, then wrap it around and glue it to the top of the box. Now you can put an origami flower or origami stars in it.
The Second One
Material
Prepare a piece of 15ร15 cm origami square paper with different colors on each side to create a 3.3ร3.5 cm origami flower pot. You can use a large piece of paper to make a big spot.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Place the paper with the desired display color side up to begin folding, fold it in half horizontally, crease it well, and unfold it.
Step 2
Fold it in half vertically, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 3
Flip the paper over from left to right.
Step 4
Fold the bottom right edge to align with the top left edge, and unfold it.
Step 5
Fold the bottom left edge to align with the top right edge, and unfold it.
Step 6
Mountain fold the left and right creases, then push the left, right, and top points to meet the bottom point.
Step 7
Take the bottom point of the top layer and fold it up to meet the top point, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 8
Fold up the bottom point to meet the center intersection point to create a small triangle, then fold up the bottom edge of this triangle to align with the middle horizontal crease, and finally, fold up the bottom edge of the top layer along the middle horizontal crease.
Step 9
Flip the paper over from left to right.
Step 10
Fold up the bottom point of the top layer to meet the top point, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 11
As you did in step 8, fold up the bottom point to meet the center intersection point to create a small triangle, then fold up the bottom edge of this triangle to align with the middle horizontal crease, and finally, fold up the bottom edge of the top layer along the middle horizontal crease.
Step 12
Rotate the paper 90 degrees from front to back, then bring the upper two layers together on the top and bring the lower two layers together on the bottom. Next, rotate the paper 90 degrees clockwise, then another 90 degrees from back to front.
Step 13
Fold down the top point along the black dotted line.
Step 14
Fold the left and right points of the top layer toward the center, and fold up the bottom point of the top layer.
Step 15
Fold the left and right points of the top layer toward the center along the black dotted lines that connect two red spots, and unfold them, then unfold this top layer to the bottom.
Step 16
Fold the lower left and right points toward the center along the black dotted lines, then fold up the bottom point to meet the center intersection point, and finally fold up the bottom edge of the top layer to align with the horizontal crease.
Step 17
Fold up the quadrilateral and unfold it. Then, fold it up again and tuck its top left and right corners into the pocket under them. Adjust it carefully and flatten it.
Step 18
Turn over the paper from left to right, and repeat steps 14 to 7, then rotate it 180 degrees clockwise.
Step 19
Flip the paper over from left to right, and unfold the bottom triangle.
Step 20
Rotate it 90 degrees from front to back and expand the top opening and shape it well.
Step 21
Put an origami flower into it.
