Material

Prepare a piece of 15 cm* 15 cm paper to create an 11 cm* 8.7 cm origami Darth Vader. Feel free to experiment with different colors of paper.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Place the paper with the desired display side facing down to begin folding. Fold it in half horizontally, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Fold it in half vertically, and unfold it.

Step 2

Fold the bottom left edge to align with the top right edge, leaving a crease indicated by the black dotted line, and unfold it.

Fold the bottom right edge to align with the top left edge, leaving a crease indicated by the black dotted line, and unfold it.

Step 3

Fold the four points to meet the center intersection point.

Fold up the top triangle’s bottom point and then unfold the top layer. Next, fold down the top edge of the paper along the dotted line.

Fold up the top layer’s bottom edge along the black dotted line.

Turn over the paper from left to right; then, mountain fold the crease indicated by the red dotted line, as seen in the second picture. Flip the paper from left to right.

Fold down the top edge along the crease indicated by the dotted line, then turn over the paper from left to right.

Step 8

Mark two points on the top edge so that they divide the top edge into three equal parts. Fold the left edge along the vertical extension line of the point you marked on the left, which is the black dotted line in the first picture. Crease it well and unfold it.

Fold the right edge along the vertical extension line of the point you marked on the right, which is the black dotted line in the first picture. Crease it well and unfold it.

Step 9

Turn over the paper from left to right.

Fold down the top left and right points along the dotted lines, aligning the edges indicated by the red lines on each side with the crease indicated by the black line. Then, fold the two points upwards along the black dotted lines.

Fold up the bottom left point along the dotted line connecting two red spots, crease it well, and unfold it.

Repeat this for the right side, fold up the bottom right point along the dotted line connecting two red spots, crease it well, and unfold it.

Press down the left and right sides along the existing creases.
