Material
Get a piece of 15cm x 15cm origami square paper, to create an 11.7cm long origami cowboy hat. Feel free to experiment with different colors and sizes of paper.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Place the paper with the desired display side facing down to begin folding. Fold it in half vertically, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 2
Fold it in half horizontally from bottom to top.
Step 3
Fold the right edge of the top layer to align with the bottom edge, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 4
Fold the right point to meet the intersection point formed by the crease you made in the previous step and the left edge, indicated by the red spot.
Repeat this for the left point, and fold it to meet the red spot on the right side.
Step 5
Fold down the top triangle of the top layer.
Step 6
Turn over the paper from left to right, then fold down the top triangle.
Step 7
Rotate the paper 90 degrees from front to back, then open the opening.
Step 8
Turn over the paper from left to right, then press down the front side along the crease indicated by the white dotted line, and finally, push the left and right points toward the center and make them meet together.
Step 9
Flip the paper over from left to right. Then, close this opening by pushing the left and right points toward the center to meet.
Step 10
Rotate the hat 90 degrees from right to left, then fold the left corner of the top layer toward the right side along the black dotted line.
Step 11
Turn over the hat from left to right, then fold the right corner toward the left side along the black dotted line as well.
Step 12
Turn the hat 90 degrees clockwise, and then pull the left and right layers to each side to spread them.
Step 13
Rotate it 90 degrees from back to front, then open the opening.
Step 14
Flip the hat over from front to back.
Step 15
Open this small opening at the top of the hat slightly so that there is just a slight depression in the middle.
