Material
Get 15ร15 cm square paper to create a 5.85ร7 cm origami butterfly bookmark. Use various colors of paper to create a unique bookmark that suits your style.
About the paper, you can choose paper with a length-width ratio of 2:1, for example, 10cm long and 5cm wide. If you only have square paper, you can fold it in half and cut it, and use one half of the paper.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Fold the paper in half vertically, leaving a crease, and unfold it. Then, cut the paper along this crease.
Step 2
Take one of the rectangular pieces of paper, fold it in half vertically, leaving a crease, and unfold it.
Step 3
Fold down the top edge to align with the bottom edge.
Step 4
Fold down the top left and right points diagonally and unfold them.
Step 5
Unfold the paper and turn over it from left to right.
Step 6
Fold the top edge to align with the red line which connects the two red spots.
Repeat this for the bottom edge.
Step 7
Fold the left edge of the paper along the crease shown by the black dotted line, crease it well, and unfold it.
Repeat this for the right edge.
Step 8
Mountain fold the creases shown by the red dotted lines, lift them and press the top edge to align with the bottom edge.
Step 9
Rotate the paper 90 degrees from front to back, then bring the upper two flaps together on the top, and bring the lower two flaps together on the bottom. Next, rotate it 90 degrees clockwise and another 90 degrees from back to front to lay it flat.
Step 10
Fold up the two corners at the middle of the bottom diagonally along the dotted lines, leaving two creases, and unfold them.
Step 11
Fold up the two corners again along the black dotted lines, and unfold them.
Step 12
Mountain fold the crease indicated by the red dotted line, then fold this crease to align with the vertical crease, and finally, flatten the fold.
Step 13
Repeat this for the left side.
