This cool and interesting origami boomerang mimics the design of a traditional boomerang. It is simple to make, with just a single piece of paper and a few minutes, and you will get this funny toy.
The finished product can be thrown, and with the right technique, it will return to the thrower, that’s really amazing. This fun and creative origami project combines the art of paper folding with the principles of aerodynamics.
Once you have finished making it, you can start this fun game. Hold it with your thumb and index finger, ensuring your thumb is on top and your index finger is on the bottom. Next, throw it upward by waving your wrist, similar to how you would throw a frisbee. Make sure to play in an open area so that the boomerang will fly higher and farther.
If you are new to origami, start here from our beginner guide to know the basics and how to read the step-by-step instructions.
We also have another origami project with similar gameplay to this one: Origami Ninja Star. The only difference is that it does not return after being thrown. You can compete with your friends to see who can throw the star the farthest.

Step 6
Unfold the top layer to the right side, then unfold the top layer of the bottom one.
Step 7
Rotate the paper 180 degrees from back to front, then mountain fold the four creases indicated by the red dotted lines to form a small square, and finally, lift the left and right points of this square along the middle vertical crease.
Step 8
Flip over the paper from left to right.
Step 9
Press down the left section of the top edge [picture 1], then press down the midpoint of the top edge to the left side [picture 2].
Next, lift the right section of the top edge and make the two red spots meet [pictures 3 and 4].
Step 10
Fold up the bottom right edge, then slightly lift the top slanted layer at the right side, and fold the crease indicated by the red line to align with the edge indicated by the black line [pictures 1 and 2].
At the same time, fold down the right white rectangle, making its top left corner tuck into the small pocket at the bottom. Finally, flatten the fold [pictures 3 and 4].
Step 11
Rotate it 45 degrees clockwise.
Step 12
Rotate the paper 90 degrees from right to left, then expand the vertical part.
Step 13
Fold down the top left and right points diagonally along the black dotted lines, then unfold them.
Step 14
Unfold the right layer of the vertical part, then fold down the crease indicated by the red dotted line along the creases you made in the previous step, and fold the right layer back to the left side.
Step 15
Close the opening of the vertical part and tuck the top left corner into the pocket at the top right. Then, rotate the paper 90 degrees from left to right.
Step 16

Step 17
Fold the top and bottom right points diagonally along the dotted lines, then unfold them.
Step 18
Rotate the paper 90 degrees counterclockwise.
Step 19
As you did in step 14, unfold the right layer of the vertical part, then fold down the crease indicated by the red dotted line along the creases you made in the previous step, and fold the right layer back to the left side.
Step 20
Close the opening of the vertical part and tuck the top left corner into the pocket at the top right. Then, rotate the paper 90 degrees from left to right.
