The difference between this basic cube and our origami cube, as well as the origami combined cube is that the basic cube has only one color for each face. Using six different colored papers, you will get a cube with six different colored faces, which looks like a Rubik’s Cube.

Material

Get six pieces of 15×15 cm origami square paper in different colors to create a 7.5×7.5×7.5 cm origami basic cube. The colors can be changed and matched freely as you like.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Take out one of the papers, place it with the colored side down to begin folding, and fold it in half horizontally, leaving a short crease on both the left and right sides (as shown by the dotted lines), and unfold it.

Step 2

Fold in half vertically, then leave a short crease at the top and bottom (shown by the dotted line), and finally unfold.

Step 3

Fold the top and bottom edges to align with the two horizontal creases.

Step 4

Fold the left and right edges to align with the middle red line, then unfold them for 90 degrees to make them stand.

Step 5

Fold the other five pieces of paper in the same manner.

Step 6

Place three papers as shown in the picture, with the top and bottom two papers placed vertically and the middle one placed horizontally.

Then place the bottom rectangular parts of the top paper and the top rectangle part of the bottom paper on top of the middle paper.

Step 7

Take out the other two pieces of paper and lay them vertically on the left and right sides separately, then rotate them 90 degrees making their opening face the three papers at the middle.

Step 8

Push the left and right sheets of paper toward the center so that they are attached to the left and right standing layers of the bottom paper.

Step 9

Bring up the upper and lower layers.

Step 10

Take out the last piece of paper and put it on top of the box, making its left and right rectangles tuck between the two layers of the box. Finally, press down this top paper and adjust each paper to finish the fold.
