Material

Prepare a one-dollar bill to fold a lovely origami hat. A slightly new bill would be better.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Fold the bill in half horizontally, leaving a crease, and unfold it.

Step 2

Fold it in half vertically from left to right.

Step 3

Fold the bottom left corner diagonally along the dotted line to meet the horizontal crease.

Step 4

Fold the right edge of the top layer to align with the left edge.

Step 5

Fold the top and bottom left corners diagonally along the dotted lines.

Step 6

Flip the dollar from left to right.

Step 7

Fold the top right corner diagonally along the dotted line to meet the horizontal crease.

Step 8

Fold the left edge to the right side along the dotted line to meet the right corner.

Step 9

Fold the top and bottom right corners diagonally along the dotted lines.

Step 10

Rotate the dollar 90 degrees counterclockwise, and then fold up the bottom rectangle of the top layer.

Step 11

Turn the bill over from left to right and fold the bottom rectangle on this side.

Step 12

Gently expand the hat to reveal its full shape.
