If you are an origami bird lover, you may have heard of a folding base named Bird Base. Let’s discover this unique base with step-by-step instructions and origami ideas based on it.
What’s Origami Bird Base
This fundamental fold is a starting point for many origami bird models, including the classic crane. Once youโve mastered the folds, itโs a versatile base that allows further creativity. The bird base is based on a square base.
It is mainly used to make โbirdsโ in traditional origami. It is featured by the protruding points, which can further transform into an elegant, streamlined shape. This bird base has two layers. Usually, one layer is further folded as the chest front part, while the other layer is the starting point of legs and tails.
