Yukihiko Matsuno is a respected Japanese origami artist and a long-standing member of the Nippon Origami Association (NOA). Known for his versatility, Matsuno creates models that range from playful and accessible designs to intricate, intermediate-level works. He has a particular talent for capturing the essence of a subject—whether it is a sea creature or a holiday figure—using efficient folding sequences that prioritize the joy of the craft.
He is the author of several notable books, including “Fold the Helmet and Zodiac,” which features challenging designs of traditional Japanese samurai helmets and the twelve zodiac animals. More recently, he released “Exciting Origami Wonderland,” a collection that spans diverse categories such as dinosaurs, flowers, and vehicles.
Matsuno is perhaps best known internationally for his marine life designs, particularly his realistic Shark models (such as the Hammerhead and Great White), as well as his charming Santa Claus figures. His work often bridges the gap between traditional folding and modern realism, making his diagrams highly sought after by enthusiasts looking to refine their skills without becoming overwhelmed by hyper-complexity.
