Glenn Sapaden is an accomplished American origami artist and attorney who has become a leading figure in the dollar bill origami community. A 56-year-old attorney from Elk Grove and co-founder of the Davis Origami Group Origami group shapes papers, lives and friendships, he has dedicated himself to promoting and teaching the art of paper folding throughout California.
Sapaden co-founded the Davis Origami Group in 2009 alongside his wife Susan Nonaka and fellow origami enthusiast Judy Ng. The group meets monthly at the Stephens Branch Library, where they introduce beginners to the Japanese art while also providing a space for advanced folders to practice and share techniques.
His specialty lies in currency folding, particularly creating intricate models from dollar bills. Sapaden’s passion for origami extends to his personal life, where he famously showed off his signature origami skill: creatively folding a dollar bill as a tip Origami group shapes papers, lives and friendships on his first date with his now-wife Susan. They later celebrated with an origami-themed wedding and continue to travel together to major origami conferences across the country.
